stay at feltham’s farm
1/ Feltham’s Farm Organic Cabin – a converted building with one big room of polished concrete floors, underfloor heating, two double bedrooms, and shower room. We have floor to ceiling bifold doors on two sides of the cabin so in the heat you can really open up and let the breezes through. Equally in the winter it’s super insulated, warm, and you have lots of light looking onto a wild garden of verbena, yarrow, artichoke, daisies and marigolds. We always provide 100% white cotton linen for beds, and bath sheet type towels to use for wild swimming and in the shower.
2/ Feltham’s Farm Organic Cottage – is a more conventional country cottage (albeit built in the 90s) with a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms (one double, one twin), a shower room and a toilet upstairs. Wood fired stove and lots of free firewood.
Both can accommodate four adults and comes with all the mod cons you’d expect, including broadband, TV, washing machine, dishwasher, oven hob, fridge freezer, fresh 100% cotton white linen and towels.
Both Cabin and Cottage look onto a shared barn courtyard, and we place dining tables and benches there for outside dining, as well as a fire pit, each in a private area with a great view of the pond. The table tennis table is by the main house to be shared, with the old orchard housing the tree house, and slide. Together these two buildings make an ideal getaway for two families wanting to be together but with separate accommodation.
With all the activity on the farm, it’s the perfect place to stay for a weekend or longer and is an ideal base from which to explore the West Country.
There’s a surprising amount to do just here on the 22 acres of our farm – particularly for families. You’re free to roam around – just bear in mind that this is a working farm and children should not be left unsupervised. Some of the fences are also electrified to keep in livestock. Where there is an open gate – you are welcome! If you can’t see animals in the field then climb over the gate. However please don’t feed the animals.
Feel free to use the trampoline, climbing frames, tree house and hammocks (in the summer). There are plenty of animals to watch: you can help feed them too, just ask!
The cottage has a barbecue and there’s a huge supply of firewood that you can use on the barbecue or for the wood-burning stove inside if it’s cold.
Then of course, there are plenty of walks nearby, either starting from the farm or after a short drive. There’s a wonderful one along the ridge at Cucklington where you can see the whole of the Blackmore Vale, ideal for any afternoon walk.
Finally, there’s our cheese. You can watch the cheese being made on most weekday mornings – and then of course buy some to take home with you.
Want more ideas? Here’s our guide of What To Do.
But what will you eat? Well, it’s worth asking us what’s currently available here on the farm before you schlep off to the supermarket.
We sell a variety of “as organic” produce (we are undergoing organic certification), most importantly our award winning cheese Renegade Monk. We sell our lamb, pork and sometimes fruit, veg and chicken and quails eggs if in stock. We also make jams and crab apple jelly. If you want to buy anything mail us in advance or knock on our door.
And we also have seasonal salad (Asian, British leaves). Ask and we’ll show you the polytunnel.
The cider we provide is from our friend Oliver Dowding, brother of “No Dig” Charles Dowding. We like his approach, and wherever possible we try to support our local producers.
We’re lucky to have some fantastic local shops (don’t be scared; not exclusively ‘for local people’) and if you want to eat out, it just depends on if you want to walk or you have a ‘designated driver’…

Dowding’s Apple Juice and Cider
Oliver Dowding makes a wonderful cider from apples collected in and around Shepton Montague. We particularly like his Breakfast Cider (1% alcohol).
Pilton Cider - a lovely Normandy style cider we rate.
No Dig Organic Gardening
Charles Dowding has a leading authority on no dig gardening since 1983. We’ve been inspired by what he does – and try, with mixed results, to emulate what he does here at Feltham’s Farm.
