Delivering cheeses to local shops is one of the best bits of this job. Sure, it can be a slog – but then again you get to meet some wonderful people, like Kay and Graham and the team at the Motcombe Community Shop.
They weren’t sure about the cheese to begin with – was it too strong? would anyone buy it? But they generously took a punt and it’s taken off from there. Partly down to their brilliant marketing and promotion (Graham’s a dab hand with the chalk) – but mostly due to their sense of humour and pleasure in introducing it to all and sundry.
They offer wine tastings at the weekend, paired with the cheese – and apparently have rarely seen some of the older members of their community laughing quite so much!
